    Bio: Born and raised just outside Indianapolis, Indiana, Chelsea Denny appeared to lead a perfect and charmed life. She was pretty, smart, and raised comfortably in a good family. The only trouble was they weren't really her biological family. And while many other adopted children grew up perfectly normal, for whatever reason, Chelsea deeply internalized her biological mother's abandonment and the anxiety of knowing nothing about her biological family. What started out as a child's simple search into her own history back in grade school quickly developed into an interest in genealogy in high school. By the time she graduated and headed to college in the Ivy League East, Chelsea's interest in genetics was a full fledged passion that drove her academic ambitions. It was during her sophomore year, while pursuing her undergraduate degree in biology, that Chelsea met Tyler Ponder in a painfully boring required class about ethics or some-such. The two dominant and highly intelligent personalities initially clashed, but somehow managed an attraction as well. They dated solidly for several years, until Chelsea casually suggested marriage as the next logical and pragmatic step in the relationship some time during their graduate studies. The marriage worked about as well as their dating relationship had for a few more years until Chelsea, with her intimate knowledge of Tyler's ability, realized what the Los Angeles police force could not prove: Dr. Tyler Ponder was responsible for the untimely deaths of several patients. Unable to accept this level of moral degradation and deficiency, Chelsea then went on to get an uncontested divorce. For months after the divorce, the former couple enjoyed each other's absence and an entire nation between them, but recently Chelsea has come to New York City where she knows her ex-husband is living, ostensibly to see her good friend Kate Glaser-Cole, however, there just might be a few ulterior motives behind renewing contact with the murdering ex-husband she claims to despise.

    Backstory

    Freshman Chelsea Denny speaks with Tyler Ponder and Daniel Cole for the first time during a debate on euthanasia in their ethics class. This goes spectacularly bad when the best friends take the 'for' side and Chelsea doggedly defends the 'against'. It is during this debate that Tyler takes interest in her, though he is explicitly and even publically rejected several times.
    02. Love Is Whatever You Can Still Betray. [info]germline & [info]manipyou.
    Despite all of her best attempts to assure the police of her husband's innocence (and reassure herself), Chelsea begins to have her doubts about Tyler after discussing the murder he's linked to with Ben Jackson, one of the officers on the case.

    When Chelsea Denny attempts to sneak into the apartment of Tyler Ponder, she is surprised to find him there drinking alone. Rather than reveal her true reasons for intruding, she leads them into a conversation about the planned upcoming dinner with the Coles. Discussing their friends' marital troubles quickly dissolves into the same old arguments they'd once had in their own marriage, until finally Chelsea leaves after Tyler says too much-- but she doesn't do so without getting what she really came for.

    Chelsea calls Daniel with every intention of discussing what Tyler confessed the night before about Dan's job and power. But when the subject of Tyler comes up, Daniel reveals to Chelsea that her ex-husband plans to turn himself in after the scheduled dinner and she does not accept the news too well, ever suspicious of what Tyler's true motivations may be, even as she hides her own agenda.

    It's a night of confessions for exes Tyler Ponder and Chelsea Denny. Tyler tells Chelsea, in person, that he is giving himself over to Primatech and why-- he still loves her. Chelsea, in turn, admits that the only reason she came to New York was to collect DNA samples from him, which she does after playing a particularly brutal round of cat and mouse.
